The United Nations Resident Coordinator, Mr. Bishow Parajuli together with Ambassadors accredited to Zimbabwe of Australia, Germany, India, Japan, South Africa, and United Kingdom conduced a field visit to ward 15, Chimanimani District. The team visited the Cyclone Idai hit area in the 28th of May 2019. The purpose of the visit was to assess the humanitarian response and progress on early recovery efforts on the ground. The assessment also included the work of UN
agencies and humanitarian partners in support of national response to Cyclone Idai.
The visit also afforded the team to witness first-hand the challenges faced by communities affected by the disaster. The UN agency and its partners manged to tour the Arboretum Camp Site were they managed interact with Government Officials and several implementing partners being led by the District Administrator, Mr Misi. The Arboretum currently holds 57 internally displaced families. The Team also managed to visit Chimanimani Rural Hospital were a brief on district health status and existing gaps were given by the District Medical Officer, Dr Choga. The las leg of the visit was at Ngangu Primary School.
